This is a test image. Being physically fit is a key part of being a personal trainer so follow us and get fast tracked to physical perfection. Our free guides will tell you what you need to know about getting fit safely and in as little time as your body will allow.

The first thing you need to do when preparing to increase your level of physical fitness is decide what aspect of your fitness you want to work on. For example, do you need more physical strength, more endurance, or more flexibility? As a personal trainer you will be called upon to demonstrate proper form to your clients. This could include demonstrating balance exercises, weightlifting, or even agility exercises. You wont be helping anyone if you either don't know how to, or simply aren't physically able to demonstrate proper form. In fact, you might end up causing long term injury to yourself or your clients by using improper form. Consider your own strengths and weaknesses and make a decision about where to start.

Also, think about what kind of certifications you will want to get and whether there are any exercises you know you will need to help your clients in the best way possible. If you feel like you're just generally unfit we recommend starting with cardiovascular exercises and moving on from there.
